Beginning with the hosts of Israel, Dr. Skousen follows God's Law throughout history, showing the glory of those nations that embraced God's law fully, and the fate of those who rejected it. Excerpt from "The Majesty of God's Law":

What the Founders Learned from a Study of God's Law

The political science of ancient Israel is scattered through four sacred books written by Moses -- Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

The Founders had carefully scrutinized the foremost scholars of their day such as John Locke, William Blackstone and Baron Charles de Montesquieu -- but not Alexis de Tocqueville, who would come later.

They had also studied the political theories of the Persians, Babylonians, Greeks and Romans. They had studied the history of England and the major countries in Europe.

In other words, their minds were ripe for the nuggets of God's political science as they carefully read the writings of Moses. As we shall see later, this penetrating insight led them to reject the most elementary aspects of British political science on which they had been tutored from early youth. Instead, they gave top priority to the teachings of Moses.

It all began with the national structure of Israel.

When New Hampshire was contemplating the ratification of the Constitution -- and thereby becoming the ninth state that would put the Constitution into operation -- Samuel Langdon addressed the legislators June 5, 1788, and carefully traced the close comparison between the U.S. Constitution and the inspired government of ancient Israel.

In the final analysis he said it was God's will that the people do their public business through freely elected representatives, the very essence of republican principles. Then he turned to the Bible to make his case.
